You’ve Got Questions. We’ve Got Answers
HOW MUCH IS IT? HOW LONG SHOULD A LESSON BE?
The cost of each class depends on the length of the class. Check out our book online page to see the different classes available. For babies, classes are more frequent (5 days/week), and shorter (20 minutes). For toddlers, usually a 30 minute lesson provides the best amount of time for a child to warm up to the activity, practice key safety exercises, and play. For new adults, 30 minutes is also sufficient. For athletes, 1 hour is ideal.
HOW OLD DOES A CHILD NEED TO BE TO START SWIMMING LESSONS?
We have many age levels and like to say we are 0-100. We start swimming lessons at age 5 months. These are infant survival classes that are meant to provide infants with reflexive skills that help them to navigate the water. We also have toddlers, children of all ages, teens, adults, and the elderly. We personalize the lessons to fit the needs of our clients.
CAN I VISIT THE SCHOOL?
We are open by appointment only. If you have a child, you are able to stay with your child during the entire lesson and watch as much as you would like. As parents, we understand the desire to be there with your children. As instructors, we know that most of the time, kids respond better to the instructors when Mom/Dad/nanny/etc are not watching, but we leave it up to you. We know you know your child best and we'll have tips on how to help navigate this process.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and goggles for anyone over 2. Any child not potty trained will need a swim diaper.
DO I NEED TO GET IN THE WATER WITH MY CHILD?
If you would like to get in the water, you can, but we actually prefer that we give the lessons 1 on 1. We understand that everyone is different and we cater to all circumstances, but most children do best when their parents are either watching from the side or even from afar and have a "5 minute show and tell" session at the end of the class.
HOW MANY LESSONS WILL IT TAKE FOR MY CHILD TO LEARN?
This is a very valid question and unfortunately we cannot answer that without an evaluation. Just as every child learns to crawl, walk, etc at a different rate, so will be the case with swimming. Some students learn in one lesson, others take 2 summers. Some students have sensitivities or fears. We don't like to make guarantees because we don't want it to be about our ego. We want it to be about safety, respect, and learning to love the water.
IS THE POOL HEATED? ARE YOU OPEN ALL YEAR?
Yes! We keep the pool between 85-90 degrees. We are an outdoor pool, so when we have super cold or rainy times, we do close, but we are mostly open year round.
